BCY B55 String Material

Have any of you guys tried the BCY B55 Strings on any of your older bows yet. I have made up 2 strings, one for a McDonald 59 Kodiak Replica and one for a 63 Kodiak Special. The McDonald is 50 @ 28 and has worked out great. The Kodiak Special is 25 @ 28 and it delaminated from the riser after about 60 or 70 arrows off it with the B55 string. The glue joint didn't look to good to me and it may have happened the same way if I had a B50 string instead of the B55.

Has anyone else had any problems using the B55 strings?   Jim

I have been using a B55 stirng on a 60# Pearson bow for the last six months and I think it is great. I like it better than B50 and think it may be quieter.

I haven't used it but it has to be an upgrade over their B500. I didn't care for the 500.

I'm using one right now and have been for several months now. Chad sent me one to field test about eight months ago. I like it pretty well. I've found that it still has enough elasticity to be safe on about any glass laminated bow (probably self bows as well but I don't shoot them so can't say for sure). I'm shooting a fourteen strand flemish on a '69 Bear T/D with Stahl limbs, 72# @ my draw length and have found stretch to be noticeably less than either B-50 or B-500- B-50 being the stretchiest of the three with a slightly lower tensile strength per strand. In fact, when Chad made the strings for testing, he said he wanted the results after thousands of shots- I guess I oughta get back to him by now.   GY

I was interested in this topic myself. Just got a early '80's Bear t/d and the gentleman I bought it from sent it with one of Chad's strings. I read the advertising material on the B-55 and it's supposed to be fine for older bows, so I went ahead and started using it. Haven't had any problems yet. Personally though, I haven't noticed it stretching any less than a regular old B-50 string...

Jim, I have used B55 for a couple of strings. I would be hard pressed to find a difference between it and B50.  Good Hunting  Knifemaker
