58 kodiak

Just bought on off ****,#47 at 28".I draw around 29",what would be a good arrow to try out of this bow.Also what is some of the difference between the 58 kodiak and 59,besides $$$$.God Bless!!!Joey

The riser geometry and length are different, different woods, different grips, different glass colors, different limb geometries.  
The '59 comes to point a little quicker for most shooters due to the handle/riser design.

Congrats on your new (old) '58 Kodiak.  They are a great shooting bow.  Infact, I've been refinishing mine.....have one more coat of wipe-on-poly and then put on a new leather grip and she'll be ready to go.  After sanding off the old, yellowed finish, that white glass sure looks fantastic!

As for arrows,  I have been shooting mainly CE Heritage 250's with 50 grain brass inserts and the old Bear razorheads(my bow is 59#).  I also shoot woodies that I've made, again with the old Bear razorheads.

Joey- I know you asked Jeremy the question but if you are taking opinions I'll offer one up. I think the '54 thru '58 Kodiaks are all a bit faster than the '59 if that's what you mean by performance. I think most would agree that the '59 is a bit more stable and less "shockey." You might find that the '59 is a bit smoother due to the extra riser mass also. I just love the limbs on the '58 though.  GY

That 59 above is NICE! The shape looks alot like a Bear Grizzly, 60's to modern version, but the wood and finish much is better and the grip is lower.

Your soon to arrive 1958 Kodiak loves 2116's in Aluminum and the Sitka Spruce Woodies I shoot out of it are spined for 50-55.

The bow is a hammer. When I owned it, it's name was Thor.
