I have a Bear grizzly, 1970 I think, and the serial # has an embossed B after it, does anyone know what that means. It is a 56" 65@28 and in excellant condition.

Thanks, Ken

It might stand for "blimished"

When Bear had a bow come out that was less than perfect, they would sell it discounted as a factory secomd or "blemished" rather than put it out at a regular price.  Often you can't even find what caused them to call it a "second" butheir quality control inspectoes were diligent about catching slight defects in their production bows.

If the fault was simply in the finish, they often camo painted them and added $5.

If yours is in fact a "blemished bow" don't worry about it.  If the bow was not solid they would not let it go out of the factory and take a chance on their reputation being "blemished"

Back then, Bear had a lot of pride in their product.  What they (Escalade) is putting out today would probably not be allowed out of the factory.

The most important part of your hunting setup is the broadhead.  The rest is just the delivery system.

Thanks Jack ... there is a dimple or slight impression in the upper limb perhaps thats it. Otherwise the bow looks exceptionally good with only a few superficial scratches.

Ken

This is my best guess as to what it is.  I think I am right but I would like to see a few others chime in for confirmation,
