Hallo, the bow is a 1965 Croves Spitfire Recurvebow. It`s signed: 69", @33. Big wooden riser and working recurves. With a brace-height of 8,5" it seems to be much easear to draw then 33lbs. The sound is also flattery. How high can or should i go, without damaging the bow? I couldn`t find any informations. Maybe compairable with other old, long, targetrecurves?

Probably belongs in the History/Collecting forum.  You'll get answers there I'm sure.

I would suggest using Easton's tuning guide for Brace Height recommendations:

68" 8 1/2" - 8 3/4" (21.6 cm - 22.2 cm)
70" 8 5/8" - 8 7/8" (21.7 cm - 22.5 cm)

Personally, I have a Hoyt 70" recurve that has a brace height adjustment from 8 3/4 to 9 1/2", by comparison, however it is a rather new model.

The most important part of your hunting setup is the broadhead.  The rest is just the delivery system.

Me too. Anyway, where would you brace a Bear Patriot?

PAPALAPIN

I would brace it using a bow stinger in my living room.

Sorry 'bout that...couldn't resist.  Guess I am getting to be somewhat of a Smart@ss in my old age

I would guess about 8" from ther belly side of the riser, but you should see if you can find someone with the Bear CD to check it for you...I lost mine

Actually the family room would be better  :knothead:

I was thinking about the same and then work up from there
Need to find the right arrow for this thing> Been working on trying to put weight on the shaft for hunting and now I have to get light

Thanks
