I picked up a real nice Kodiak special the other day.  It had tan glass on all sides of the limbs, 66", 47# draw.

the serial number is on the below as follows:

     R
   XT526

The R is printed over the top of the serial number.

It also has the number 2 stamps under the serial number and that number 2 is about  5/8" tall.

Any info wouild be good.  I will send hard copies of photos to anyone who thinks they can help me out  on age and value.

thanks

Jon

TRAP

Sounds like a 57.

There are some great threads found in the archives on this site.

57-58 value would be a tough call right now Jon some bows are going over the market value and some well under the market bd

Am I to assume that the 2 stamped on it means it is a second?

This bow looks like one of your 57 or 58's.  Has the same shelf rug and face plate design.  This bow looks almost new.  Leather grip, shelf plate and face plate  look original.

I dont think so.

I think it's more apt to mean the bow was sold at a discount to a civic group in an effort to promote archery.  Bows in schhools, church camps, youth camps, etc, etc meant more sales down the road for archery manufacturers.

I'm not sure anyone knows 100% what the stampings were for but I've owned several stamped bows and they were fine.
