Just received a Bear Polar, 64", 48@28, Ser# JL359. Wondering length string I should get ( draw 29") and strand count. Also curious about the year of manufacture.
Thanks for any help.

Tom, pictures would help alot with the year. You could also check for a thread in here that dates Bear Polar's. Jeremy would be able to help you the most. He's the resident Polar Guru!

PS if you got it from Snufer recently, I think it's a '61.

Kenny, Yes it one from Les and do believe it is a '61 ,although it has white glass and it has the I beam in the riser. The riser is similar to a '61 Kodiak I have.
Jeremy,  thanks that is the way I was leaning.

Most (all?) of the 61's I've seen were i-beam risers.  Most were bubinga through and through, but I've seen rosewood as well

This one is bubinga, wish it were rosewood but am going to refinish it anyway as the varnish has some crackling and a few minor dents.
Any suggestions for cleaning up the limbs-has yellowed with time and a few spots almost like mold. Thinking very light pressure with 0000 steel wool.
