Groves Flame Hunter

Recently got a hold of a Groves Flame Hunter, 52# @ 28", 62", Serial Number 5710-3.  Flat shelf and Window.  Anyone know the age and a history of this type of bow.  Thanks in advance.  By the way, the bow is in mint condition.

I believe Harold groves started making bows in 1959 but it is most likely your bow is mid 1960s to early
1970s. Groves bows were assisted in design by 2 or 3 of the scientists responsible for the trigger in the first nuclear bomb. I collect groves bows because I think they are cool. Jim

Dennis, if you "google" Groves bows or Groves Flame Hunter you'll find some reading.  You also can search here on Tradgang for Groves and find info.
I bought a 56" 54# Flame Hunter last year and could not be happier with a hunting bow.  I have got everything i have shot at with it.  Amazing -especially for me.
They really seem to be a fantastic bow.  And it is true that J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, helped design the bow.  No wonder it is so fast!  Oppenheimer was a friend of Mr. Groves in New Mexico.
