BEAR A Mag

Picked up a Bear A Mag recently as well as a B and 2 C risers.

The A Riser came with a small metal plate, with a thumb screw and a leather plate. I don't see where this goes. Any idea of what it is? I'll get pics later

Also Looks to have an Brand New original Bear String in its little plastic tube from 1975.
Does that have any collector value before I open it?

I bought it from an ex Navy man, who bought it in 1975 to shoot on base, Its been in storage since.
He found it while packing up to move. One small chip in the paint by the sight plate and a touch of surface rust on one of the clamps.

It is a converta quiver unit for adding a vintage leather-top bolt on quiver using the front stabilizer bushing, $20-25 item

This is what the quiver looks like. I'm missing the bracket though. Are you interested in selling it?

Actually that bushing is after the leather top quivers. It is for the Converta Quivers which came in 4 & 8 arrow with green plastic hood. They had a spring arm on top and a forked piece on bottom that slide into the bracket dkard has.

The quiver Jack Shanks has posted actually bolted directly to the handle via a bushing installed below the grip on the early(late 1950's-early 1960's) Bear bows. I have one for my 1961 Griz.

Thanks for that information. My mistake. I thought I saw a picture of one of the leather tops using that bracket or a similar bracket recently though. Could have been another model of Bear quiver now that I think of it. I have 6 or 7 old Bear quivers and each one is a different style.

Sorry, but I wasn't saying it would not work to use that to mount the leather top quiver. It will work if you have a stabilizer busing in your bow.

the stabilizer bushing which is also the place where the adapter plate would be screwed into did not come standard until 1971 when 99% of Bear bows had the bushing installed at the factory.However the bracket will work on any year bow that has a stabilizer bushing bd

No apology needed for me. You were correct that the leather top quiver pre-dated the bows with the stabilizer bushings. The bushing allowed that quiver to be used though as bowdoc's pictures show. I believe there is at least one other newer model Bear quiver that also attach the same way but I don't have that particular model to show. Probably bowdoc or one of the other experts does though.
