I recently picked up a dandy 59' Kodiak. What are the differences between a 59' and 60' Kodiak when it comes to the grip, width of limbs and shooting characteristics? At this point, I think I like my 62' Kodiak better. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Wish I knew for sure Kevin but to be honest I've never shot either yet. For the most part the 60 is supposed to have a little thicker handle than the 59 I believe but there are some exceptions to the rule I understand.

Kevin,

Jack is correct in his description I would add that the shelf of the 60 is a bit higher so the arrow sits a bit high for my liking. Now keep in mind I haven't seen many of either but I do own one of each.

The 1960 has slightly more recurved tips and as was said before the grip is usually bigger-the limb dimentions look the same to me. The 1960 is said to be a tad faster and perhaps more durable-better glass, tips and string grooves. To me the 1959 has a lot more Mojo as a hunting bow.
As for the 1962 that's perhaps the top of that group 1959-1962. Many collectors say the 1962 is the top shooter of all the early Kodiaks-it is a tough call; most of the 1955-1962 bows are a pleasure to use and own.

There you go, Bjorn- driving up the price of '62s, LOL. I have owned all three and I would pick the '62 to hunt with as well. As Bjorn pointed out, the '60 has a more radical recurve than the '59 and usually it has a more bulbous palm swell, although I have seen a few with pretty narrow grips. I personally prefer the shooting characteristics of the '60 to those of the '59 but the difference is slight. I much prefer the average '59 handle to the average '60. See guys, that's why we need so many bows. Just show this to the Missus- she'll understand then.   Grant

I've shot both but not side by side so I can't say I prefer one over the other. Interesting the high number of modern replicas of the '59 but  few of the other years.  I've also heard the '62 is the best of the bunch but I've never owned one.
