1959 Kodiak why I was born in 1959 plus it is a great shooting bow.

Last season I hunted with my '59 Grizzly.  I started the new year shooting/hunting with my '59 KSpecial.  I love the way both of them feel and shoot.  The '59 Grizz belongs in the Fall woods!

This season will probably be divided between my '59 Kodiak and '59 Polar.

This year I am hunting with an A-magnesium riser and 50 pound number 2 limbs. That makes a 58" recurve. I have a Bear 8-arrow spring arm quiver on it that I only put 4 arrows in for clearance and quietness reasons. I have a pair of Bear camo bow socks on the limbs and I use an old Fred Bear glove.

It is a combination that shoots well and is full of good mojo and spirit.

'59 Grizzly. I bought it cause I wanted to be part of the "Birthday Crowd". I shoot it and am hunting with it because it flat out out-shoots anything else I have.

Thanks to Trap for starting the Birthday thread and lighting a fire that'll never go out.

Hope to own a Kodiak someday, but if it never happens I'll be happy with the Grizzly.

Last year it was a '72 Kodiak Hunter. This year the jury is still out depending on how my elbow is holding up.  The one I'm shooting the best is a 45# '66 Kodiak.  Others that I can shoot accuately are '62 50# Kodiak, '68 48# Super Kodiak, and I have a 45# '64 Kodiak on the way.  I have some non Bears that I may consider too.

I'll hunt with one of my 59 Kodiaks this fall to celebrate the 50th birthday of an outstanding bow and because they shoot great.

Almost always with 59 Kodiaks. For some reason when I shoot them I am in the zone. Second is the Bear takedown. Green Striper is the only one I could shoot decent.

Birthday bow?

I can't find a 1946 bow.

No disrecpect to the topic, but everybody here knows what I hunt with and it ain't no bear.

When it comes to hunting, there are Jack Howard Gamemaster Jets, and then there are "other bows"

The most important part of your hunting setup is the broadhead.  The rest is just the delivery system.

I will be huntin with my '62kodiak this year.

Jack I got to get my hands on a Howard. I want to shoot one BADD. I am saving up and maybe i can find one in 45-55# range.

Bear A mag with #1 limbs makes a 47# bow, it will be my first year using an A mag. before was either a Super K or last year a B wood riser with the #1 limbs 45#.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Trooper

2001 Bear t/d with 65# FF limbs, carbon arrows with old green Bear heads with bleeders.  Total arrow weight is just below 700 grns.  Why? because it just "feels" right in my hand and I've killed around 30 deer with it in the last 8 years.
It's not what you kill but how you hunt...

wadde

my 59 kodiak will take to the field this fall to harvest a deer for the 59's birthday.

Takedown

I started hunting this season with a 50# 1971 Super Kodiak, and I will be using a 53# 1965 Kodiak as well.  And later a 1971 55# Kodiak Hunter when it is done being refinished in a couple of weeks!
I love-em all! I have to keep shooting/practicing with each to stay sharp.
Harry.

This year I will be hunting with 1966 K-Mags. I have two of them. One will be for backup! I will use these bows from the treestand. On days I still hunt I intend on using one of my 65 Kodiaks, or my BW!

Anyone else use different bows for different styles of hunting?
