Hi Guys,
I received this afternoon a vintage Bear Kodiak Magnum but it is in bad condition.
The previous owner has varnished it with a non identified clear varnish but it is sticky at the touch . I started to sand it with sandpaper but I wont ruin the glass. What can I do to do a good job ????     Sandpaper is the right way or a get water based varnish remover ??? I want to save the logos of course !!!

Thank so much for your help

I'd start with wiping it down with acetone that might get the wet/old varnish off, then go to sandpaper.
Good luck
Kurt
pictures are always a big help

You can wipe the bow down like Kurt mention with acetone.I use the finger nail polish remove that is acetone.I figured if if did'nt eat the end of my wife fingers off by now it should be safe for my bows. The trick is,is to not scrub it to hard with something like steelwool or scotchbite pad.Just use an old rag and test it out in some not so crittical places maybe on the handle. If that does not work to your satisfaction then the sandpaper. The acetone won't hurt the glass.Again just wipe it down rather the soaking it or scrubing. Can you show a few pics maybe ? bd
