I started making and shooting longbows about 1 year ago. Before the,I shot compound with split finger for 25 years. I used split finger untill I was told that shooting 3 under would improve my shooting because you are looking straight down the shaft. I tried it and liked it. The only problem is that when I release, I hear a loud "crack", think maybe hitting the riser. I did not have that with split fingers.
Ant ideas?
    Thanks,

Change back to split fingers and use a higher anchor.

Your bow might not be tillered for 3 under, how is the arrow flight ?

Arrow flight is good on a good release but very sensitive. Should a longbow be so sensitive on release?

njloco

No, it should be more forgiving than a recurve, Have you tried shooting it split ? I'd also get that checked before doing anything.

NJLOCO,
What should the tiller be 3 under/split

atatarpm

There is only a 1/8 th inch differance in the tiller for split vs three under you can raise your nock piont on the string to conpensate for the differance.  BW told me you can shoot a bow tillered for spilt 3 under but it was a lot more difficult to shoot a bow tillered for 3 under split.

Why don't you take a video of yourself shooting this bow, then the powers that be can analyze it for you.
