I am getting back into trditional archery. I shot a Bear Grizzly for about 2 years and I had to sell it due to some money problems. Looking back I should have sold my wheelie bow instead. I just bought a Browning Nomad from the classifieds here...Anyway, when gripping the string what is the proper way to grip it. Should I use the pads of my fingers or should I grip it in the first joint of my fingers? Its been so long I cant remember. I will be shooting split finger with a glove. I remember I tried 3 under for a while and eventually went back to split finger.

First, welcome back to trad Scott.

Most folks will advocate a deep hook grip.  There are lots of threads in this forum on the subject and you might want to read through them for opinions/suggestions.

BTW a deep hook is in the first joints of your fingers and try to point the fingetips back.
