I recently dropped down to a 46#@28 Bob Lee T/D Hunter longbow. I noticed after a few shots that my arrows are too short now,LOL! Most of my previous bows where in the 52-60 pound range and I was drawing about 27.25 and have had much success with accuracy. Now with the lower weight I'm shooting a bit better, drawing a full 28 inches and holding form. I want to re-work the shooting muscles and get back up to 53#'s. Will this make much difference in overall performance, i.e. am I better off with a lower weight and a longer draw?
Just one more step please!

Just joking, allthuogh if i lost some weight an gain a inch it would maker smile. Anyway i think this will only inpove ur overall form even when u move up in wieght. Some times heaver bows make for bad habits

On a compound, an extra inch of draw is worth about 10 feet per second at the same poundage.  I would think better form, better shooting, and a longer draw would make up for quite a few pounds in bow weight.

Thanks guys, I had succumbed to the " I need more weight" monster and found plenty of threads saying that 46# is more than enough for deer.

46# IS PLENTY FOR DEER,5 YEARS AGO I WAS HUNTING BEAR IN CANADA AN 1 OF THE GUYS I WAS HUNTING WONIT TO SHOT A BEAR WITH HIS FATHERS OLD BOW. I THINK IT WAS LIKE 40~42# THE ARROW SHOT THROUGH THE BEAR AN STUCK IN THE LOG PILE ON THE BAIT ,NO PROBLEM AT ALL COMPLET PASS THROUGH. I WOULD STICK WITH 2 BLADE BROAD HEADS
