I have ordered an Elkheart. Any other Elkheart shooters let me know what you have noticed about it? Wanting honest opinions of what I have to look forward to. My very brief loan I got from Gregg was just pure money in comparison to my Super Kodiak I was shooting (still shooting, for the next 9 month lol)Nothing is off limits, just trying to understand the bow and know what to expect. Thanks as always!

You can find a lot of threads about folks shooting and owning Elkhearts by doing a search of the POW WOW.Many pics of them as well.Click on the word search near top of POW WOW page and type in Elkheart. You will find ample info to keep you busy while you wait.

Like you I love my recurves custom and vintage, but from time to time I give a longbow a try. Same with some friends of mine hard core recurve shooters. Well when I started to shoot the elkheart I was amazed by how easily I was hitting the target. The bow is very light but very stable and I was making some excellent tight groups almost as good as my to go bow but with less flyers. The bow is pretty fast and I use the same arrow as my recurves with just 2# more of DW. The really same happened to my other friends that now have quit shooting their recurves. One of them is just came back from Africa and with his 56# Elkheart has taken an Elan and a Blue Wildebeest both with the arrows bedded up to the fletching and with a 100-150yds recovery. He killed in the same trip an Impala and a faraona. In 3 years we went from 0 Elkheart to 13 for 6 of us.

All of our bows are TD a feature that I advise you. It adds a little bit of weight were it counts.

Gregg has just informed me that my Elkhart is due to be started next month. Im very excited, mines going to be a one piece #52@29" 58".

As has been said, I dont reckon you'll find a bad word written about these bows, I trawled the internet back when I was about to order mine and theres plenty of folks out there really happy with them.

Cheers, Scott.

The grip is awesome so if you liked the grip on the loaner you will be happy.  I haven't found a bow I shoot better.  The short bow is great for hunting situations and they are quiet. Gregg is a good guy too.

I think you're going to be very pleased.  Without question, one of the bows I should not have sold was an Elkheart.  Don't be afraid to go very short on length.  That's probably not an issue for you, coming from a recurve, but longbow shooters will be impressed with the well-mannered behavior of these short bows.

Best regards, Chase

I have a shrew that he built and it is fantastic.  It was not built for me and my short draw, but it really flies...

This is one of the bows I wrestled over several months ago trying to decide what to get. I ended up with a Toelke Whip which I do love, but I've not been able to shake the Coffey bows from my mind or heart. Ive no doubt you are going to love it. I've done a ton of research and his bows are among the top most sought after. Id still like to have one, as well as a Caribow, to go along with my Whip... Congrats!

Greg's bow are very nice . I've owned several and they were some of the best I've ever shot .

My second Elkheart is currently "in the works," Gregg has sent me several pics and a short video of the construction progress... can't wait and can't say enough about these bows. Fit like a glove, easy to tune, and excellent performance. I'm no great shot, but these bows bring out my best.

Gregg pours his heart in soul in his product and his bows definitely speak for them selves when you pick one up just my .02 but when talking about the elkheart I think the old saying of dynamite comes in small packages hold very true I have no doubt you will love this decision

Pick your woods and let greggs vast experience as a bowyer and long time engineer go to work just don't forget to breathe when you open that box when it arrives

COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER!!!!!

I got one on order and i cant wait to get it here in my hands> I tried all but maybe two of the models Greg had at ETAR everyone shot great and was blown away at how the smaller they got the better they shot
I ended up with a 60" Elkheart to start but already have my eyes on another

And to top it off you will never and I truly mean this you will never meet a nicer guy to work with !!

Mine is carbon/foam with all phenolic riser and bow bolt. It's fast with 8.5-9gpp and it will flat deliver a heavy 11.5-12gpp with authority. It is 53#@27" and I don't hesitate to use a 160gr Snuffer or Tree Shark with it.

I've never bought a bow from Gregg but did talk to him a while back to see what he offered and, to date, he has been the nicest, most helpful, honest and willing bowyer I've dealt with and every one of them has been great: Gregg just takes it a step further!

Got to test drive an Elkheart this summer. Got on the build list real quick after that, awesome little bow.
