Bow performance subject hot weather

Been testing broadheads and field points today standing in the hot sun. When I first came out I was point on at 40 yards, 30 minutes later it appears I am now point on at 30 yards. My limbs are black and  they did feel warm. I changed nothing but came straight in and unstrung the bow to let it cool down. I will check arrow flight  again this afternoon when it's cooler to see if I'm back to point on at 40 yards. Have any of you experienced something like this.

Hot humid weather can slow down a self bow.  I am concerned of the hot sun baking a bow until it is too warm.  When the glass on the bow gets as hot as a car fender, it can also be expanding the glue lines.

Limbs only felt warm to the touch not really hot but something changed I'll know more when I tested this evening after it cools down, didn't want to arbitrarily start changing things without knowing exactly what has happened

I live in the south I've never experienced it... 95 degrees 95% humidity kill deer... 18 degrees kill deer no problem..... no difference.

I hunt hogs year around no difference.

So I'm not really sure what you're experiencing.

Maybe string stretching.  On pre FF bows like my 72 SK we say the bow is getting squishy. B50 type materials stretch. Some FF materials stretch more than others. Carry your square next time and when issue arises check your brace height, nothing to lose. Of course it can be the guy behind the bow. Heat takes energy from a body especially if it is on the senior side of life. (I know that for a fact).

Strings will stretch or slip in the heat, did you happen to check brace height before and after, other thing me and the wife both have noticed is our strength slips greatly in the heat, we struggle with consistency at 3d tourneys when it's hot way more than when weather is cool and comfortable!

I'm also betting on string and not bow.

Bows are cured at much higher temps then you can shoot in.  Just don't leave it strung in your car.

My money is on string too, though I will say that some consideration to temperatures was/has been given within Oly ILF limb design by Win&Win and others, I'm referencing use of foam, but then again we are talking shooting on a whole other level there.

Like Mike said, bows are cured at much higher temps than we experience outdoors.  My bet is the string also.  Polyester (Dacron) is the worst to stretch/creep in high temps, followed by 100% HMPE/UHMWPE.  That's one of the big reasons for blended materials--much less affected by high temps.  Lower strand counts will also be affected more.

Well seems to be a combination of things. Brace dropped 1/4 inch. Nock ring
Appears to have moved slightly, maybe 1/32. And I think something about my form changed. I normally draw about 29. According to daughter who was watching my draw I've lost somewhere between 1/4 and a 1/2 of draw. Got to figure that out.

Your string probably stretched more than a quarter inch while you were shooting it in the hot sun.  It contracted a bit after you unstrung it, leaving it only a quarter inch shorter after you restrung the bow.
