Going back to the last St. Judes Auction, my son and I had picked out several items we were going to place bids on.  One in particular caught our eyes -- the Fins and Feathers Hunt.  I am so glad that we did, because this was a weekend that will be long remembered and cherished.

Fast Forward to last Saturday.  My granddaughter decided to accompany me up to our good friends' the Wilsons.  We got up early and hit the road for our 6-hour drive to Flat Rock, Alabama.  We arrived early afternoon -- after a delay when I couldn't use my Credit Card because it got scammed by somebody in Romania.  Luckily my granddaughter, Kelsey, had hers with her.

We visited for a while with our wonderful hosts the Wilson family -- Don, Tammy, Skyler and Chloe.  We all decided to do a little arrow flingin'.

We started out on a recent addition of their's -- a really nice 3D range.

Then we decided it was time to start shooting at a moving target in preparation for our hunt the next day.

We did some final preparations to Don's boat before our night out on Lake Guntersville and had dinner.

I need to say that Don and Tammy are blessed with two great children that Kelsey and me really enjoy being around.

Now comes the excitement.  We hooked up the boat, and we were on our way for a night of "fun."

Don fell into a great deal on this boat.  It is a great bowfishing platform.

This is gonna be a good one. Great folks all around.

The water was still a little cold and very low so the fish weren't in the normal numbers that we've seen on past bowfishing outings.  But we all got shots, and even managed to bring in a few for the camera.

Skyler and I had a blast trying to hit the silver streaks that dashed all around the boat -- we weren't able to land any, but we sure chucked a lot of arrows at them little shad.

Stay tuned because we had even more fun on Sunday morning that will be shown when Don uploads the pictures of the pheasant hunt.

It was a great week-end that will be remembered for a very long time. I've got a very good friend who is a semi-professional photographer and he agreed to go along and take a few pics for us.....he took 1247 pics in four hours!!!!! He narrrowed them down to 650 and now I'm trying too narrow it down some more but they are all GREAT! I wish you all could see every one of them......They are coming, just hang on...

It will take Don a while to upload pics, so I will continue.

Sunday a.m. couldn't come fast enough -- after we finished reminiscing about some of the shots we'd taken during our bowfishing excursion, we settled in for the evening.

Finally, Sunday morning rolled around, and when it was light enough to see, I made my way outside to see how the weather looked because the prediction was for some rain.  The rain was holding off.  I knew then this was going to be a great day.

Shortly after that the group for the pheasant hunt started arriving early on Sunday.  The first to arrive was Terry Green.  We "chewed the fat" while waiting on the others.  Conan, who works in the Archery Dept for Don, and Mr. Wilson, Don's dad, arrived next, followed by a local father and son team, Steve and Justin, who were invited guests.

It was nice to see Larry again....and ti finally get over and see the area Don and Skyler live.  They live in some beautiful country.  I saw lots and lots of meadows and woodlots I would like to roam and hunt.  It also looked like it would be teaming with game.

Great stuff will be watching this one for sure. I have seen some pics too and if the stories are anything like the pictures this is going to be great.
