Hi all! Last week I ordered a new knife from Wingnut for my self, and a blade to make a knife for my son. Here is my first attempt at a kit knife using a piece of antler I had. I got a bit sloppy with the epoxy but I think It will clean up OK. whada ya think?

Yea..that looks great. How long is the tang in the antler? Take build a long pics by any chance?

Very nice! I'm sure he will love it. I think you have good taste in knives.  ;)  Here's my first:

Directions: Hike, camp, hunt, fish, wash, rinse, repeat.

Thanks guys!
Bodork ; Yes it was fun! I'm already thinking of doing another! I just have to get ahold of some more antler.
Ferret ;  No build along pics sorry but I was definitely thinking of you while making it! I had to cut the tang to about 3" it goes to just past the apex of the curve. I drilled until I could just see a hint of "daylight" at the base of the hole. I then cut several notches in the tang to give the epoxy more surface area. I really got lucky with the size of the finger guard, it fits the oval shape of the antler almost perfectly. I scored the underside of the guard with my cutting wheel.
This is the "polar" model blade if anyone was wondering. The quality of HELLE blades is well known on this site, and this little number is true to the HELLE tradition in every way.
Thanks again guys and  Stickshooter , your praise means a heck of alot to me, you sir are a true artisan.
Tamure Thats a beauty! I'm going to try a wooden finger guard on my next one.
