I have the 2 bows I am shooting tuned to the correct spine arrows but all of the sudden the feather that is turned between the shelf and the side plate is showing excessive wear or fraying.  What cause this?  My arrow flight is great and they bear shaft slightly weak but impact the same as fletched arrows.  The only thing I have changed is the rest material.  I am using velcro material for both the rest and plate.  Before, I was using a rug rest and calf hair plate.

Are ya leavin a slight channel between the sideplate and the shelf rest?

Methinks velcro will chew up feathers faster than a rug rest.

I, for years had the same thing happen.....Always had great arrow flight,but that bottom feather would wear. Even after 20 shots or so I would notice some fraying.....after years of putting up with it,last year I turned it cock feather in.....same great arrow flight,but I've been shooting the same arrows for a year now and I have no wear on any feathers.

Kenny, I am leaving a channel, however I have been shooting some thin Easton Axis shafts and I can't leave much channel or they will slip between the shelf and plate.

Curt, I have never tried shooting the cock feather in.  I will play around with that and see how they fly.

I'm thinking the velcro is a little more abrasive to the feathers.  I've never had as much wear to the bottom feather with a rug and calf hair.
