June 27 7:30 AM. Looked out the window this moring to see 3 gobblers in full strut. Man why the heck are they doing it this late? Young hen just coming in or something? Never seen them strut this late before.

I've seen them in strut here in Nebraska even in late winter on nice sunny days.
They are in the mood 365 days a year, they just don't know that the hens aren't  :D
No matter what type of bow is shot, we're all archers.

I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

still in strut over on my friends farm. too bad i cant hunt them. heck,  i hear them gobbling in merrian springs in october and november all the time.

bbassi

They must be back from vacation Mickey. LOL

Around here they turned back on late. I killed one on 5/31 that was smokin hot. I then heard 2 more behind the house a week later. Funny how they can be so smart and so dumb at the same time.

They actually will strut and gobble all year round for displays of dominance, which is more than likely what is going on in your photo. They just do it much, much more in the spring because dominance plays such a major role in their once a year mating ritual.  I hear them gobble a lot during deer season and have even arrowed one in full strut in November.  Great picture!     :clapper:

whitebuffalo

They will strut and gobble all year long but I've recently read that they will keep trying to hatch some polts ,,say the nest was detroyed buy a critter they will try again..JB

At first I thought I saw flag on Mickeys putting green but looked closer and saw it was a bird house. Didn't think he would allow them on the green. Are you sure you don't have a turkey farm?  :bigsmyl:

I have heard that turkys will have more then one clutch a year.  It could have something to do with that perhaps?
got arrows?

the Ferret

Well I know one of the turkeys was excited. The one in the front on this pic may go blind   :bigsmyl:

and some of the hens have been coming and feeding under the bird feeder out front, but no poults with them

Mickey,

Believe it or not I have seen them strut in Nov when I used to live in WV. Strange for sure.
