Over the weekend our 4H shooting sports club put on an day camp for the kids in our club. This was our first year running one of these and we had a blast. The kids got to do alot of shooting sports activities to include archery. Since I love traditional archery (and I am the lead archery instructor) I try to keep tradtional archery somewhat up front so to speak. I joke with the kids if they want to shoot one of our genesis bows saying they need training wheels etc. They are all good sports. And supprizingly most do prefer recurves or longbows.

Anyway I wanted to set something up they could make and have something to remember the day by. I ended up buy materials so they could make arrows. I preped up 30 arrows and got some feathers out (many thanks to a fellow tradganger) I ordered a few things from 3 rivers. Got out my bitzs' and I even took a bunch of selfbows out to show them that. They had a blast as you'll see from my pics. My daughter wanted is in a bunch of the pics too. She had a ball and now wants to make a bunch of arrows for herself.

Man that is great.  Getting kids involved in the sport we love is great.  Keep up the good work guys.

We must go beyond the textbooks, go out into the untrodden depths of the wilderness & travel & explore & tell the world the glories of our journey

I know I sure had fun. I had a time keeping the other instructors from making up all my arrows. I didn't want to run out for the kids.

They turned out pretty good for Wal-Mart dowel rods.
