Went up to Grand Pass Conservation Area to shoot some Gar or Carp yesterday evening.  The pools were way down and the only fish left were small gat less than a foot long.  So I drove around and looked at some ponds but only small ones again.  Thinking I drove a good ways for nothing, I found where the pools empty back into the river  and found a huge group of gar in the river next to the outflow.  Must have been at least fifty gar cruising around.  I got too anxious and just started shooting.  Got three in a row then the rest spooked.  Then it was very slow shooting at far away fish and didn't get anymore.  Here are some pics.

One slithered back into the river thats why there are only two showing.  Driving out I saw this guy feeding in one of the pools.

You bet Brad.  I thought about e-mailing ya for sunday morning, but I got the itch after work sat. and had to scratch.  There were alot bigger gar there, but like I said I got too anxious and just started shooting.  I should have slipped down stream alittle and shot those fish first.  But thinking about it now the way those three were fighting and jumping, I'm not sure it would have helped.

We'll hook up!!

For hunting to have a future, we must invest ourselves in future hunters.

Have you tried below Truman Dam at Warsaw?  That used to be really good.  If there has been some flooding below the dam the carp sloughs south of Truman Dam about 1/2-3/4 mile are good spots for carp.  Also, east of Brunswick, MO at Dalton; there are some good spots for carping and gar.Have to ask the locals.

Really need a boat at Warsaw below the damn.  I know there are some big gar down there.  I'll have to mapquest Brunswick, Mo.
