Just wondering about the phone number. Of all the Amish people I know none of them have telephones.  Could he be a Mennonite of Huterite.

Good to hear the good reviews. I shot a Black widow for years but like the longbow now. After shooting this Hill Country handle forward lngbow, all I can say is SWEET!
All the benefits of both bows. I cannot find a negative. The price isn't scary either. BTW he is definatly Amish. There are lots of different Amish groups. Also a cabinet maker.

Lots of the Amish around Millersburg, Ohio where Roman is from have phones in little phone booths in the yard.  They can take messages from them.  I imagine that's the deal with him.  It's not that they are against using phones, they just don't want them in the house to interrupt family time--can you say "teenager"??  Many of their ways seem contradictory to us but when you take time to find out the reasons they do them they can make a lot of sense, at least to me.....Dave

Shot a couple of the Hill Country bows at ATAR and they were very good shooting bows.  The workmanship was outstanding and I thought Roman was a first class guy.  If I were in the market for another bow I would put his bows near the top of a very short list.

Roman is a nice guy and concerned with making the best bow he can. I'll have one of his new designs in my possession soon and will put it through the paces.

Funny this should show up here today. I'll be spending the day at his shop tomorrow, hopefully working on Dave's and mine with Roman. Roman and I have become friends through Tradgang and ATAR. I'll be taking him to the OSTA shoot in Jackson Ohio on Saturday, along with one of his boys and my 2 children.

Kenny, I keep meaning to tell you. At ATAR I saw the Amish Bowyer's son come out to the Kids Range, and he was just standing and watching, though he had his gear with him. So I called to him and said that he was welcome to join in. He turned and smiled and started to look around. I told him to just tell Sandy (Thorn) he wanted to and told him she was the lady in the such and such colored blouse. His smile fell so noticibly, I figured it was bashfullness so I called to Sandy, and as soon as I let her know he wanted in, she imediatly got him going - Sandy is good at that.

I tell that, to relate the following: The next day I was walking by, a way's out from the boy and his Father's vendor table, on my way to meet someone, when I heard someone call out, "Good Morning, Mr. Dunn." I looked around, while automatically  returning the greeting, not really sure where it came from. I saw both of them smiling but returning their gazes back to their laps, apparently working on something, or reading. I meant to tell you, so you could tell them, for me, how much that meant to me - I knew it had to be in thanks for getting him started at the kid's range (where he had a ball from what little I saw), and that he must have told his dad about it. I'm not sure which of them called out to me but what a nice feeling it was for me.

Bernie, they are some of the most humble and kind folks you'd ever want to meet. James, the son, and Killie hit it off too. They shot one of the courses together on Friday evening and he talked about that "Kathy lady" for quite some time after.
