Since my operation in April I have received a new Black Swan 1pc hybrid, like new Shrew Lil Favorite Scout, like new Saxon American Recurve, last Monday I got 1 of the first Black Swan low wrist belly mount hybrid Impalas, and today I got my A&H ACS_CX from John and Larry. The first three bows were shot by Tippit and 4runr when they came to visit last month. They all look to shoot real nice. I am supposed to wait until late next month before attempting to shoot, but there is just to much temptation here, I had to try.

Listen to your Doctor folks. I tried to string one of the bows today and felt things in my side a man shouldn't feel. Maybe next week. When I can finally get a bow strung I promise lots of pictures!

Until then appreciate being able to shoot folks, it may be a simple pleasure, but you don't realize how much a part of you it is until you have to go without. For a bow junkie like me, well you get the point.

Amen! - been there done that - a couple of times (as a scar from my rib juncture to my pelvis - same track twice - will attest to). When they slice your stomache open it is hard to draw the lowest possible weight. Only good thing is it does seem to come back quickly,  if  you take the #s build up slow and easy, VTM

ALWAYS listen to the Doc, David. Just send those over here so you won't be tempted. Hang in there my friend. Time is constant and we should pay attention.

I wish you well.  However, I personally don't want any temptation for ME so I'll not volunteer to take care one of your sweet sticks for a spate of time!     :D

Dave, you knew you were gonna get that reaction with a post like that. So just do what I asked when we were there. Send the Shrew to Doc, and you won't be able to see through your tears to find the rest!!  :bigsmyl:

The problem is the stringing. Uo and down and twisting motions are bad right now. I just know I could draw the darn things. The 1pc Swan is only 47#s at my draw and is my rehab bow. Problem is pulling it up to get it strung is just not going to work. I knew I'd find lots of bowsitting volunteers. Anyone who comes to Vermont is welcome to do some shooting, but for now they stay here as encouragement to heal.

Time, don't rush it. You could always use the down time to work on your mental archery game, visualization, form, etc.

Hope you get back to feelin' 100% soon.

Hi David,

I wish you the fastest healing.
Use a stringer long enough, you won't use so much strength to string a bow.

Take care,

Using a stringer and two legs Manny. I'm just not healed all the way through yet. I'll get there in time for the fall seasons. First time I'm not in a hurry for opening day in quite a while.    :goldtooth:

Back in the early 90s I was running my archery bus. ( Sun Dog ) and ended up hurting my right shoulder so bad I couldn't shoot except for left handed compound.  Ended up giving up making bows as I couldn't so much as draw them back at the time.   It took years of easy going recovery but I am back to shooting traditional now the last 5 years or so.  I know how a simple injury can really change your life.

KPaul

When your MD clears you, start at the lowest draw wt possble and work up. I have a couple of bows that you are welcome to borrow:
