I was sitting around the house just doing nothing when it came to me; I'm going to shoot a perfectly good arrow with a perfectly good broadhead on it straight into a cement block.  Don't know what got into me as I am not usually a destructive guy.  It was a 2018 Gamegetter aluminum with a 125 Grizzly.  I used a long screw in adapter made of aluminum.  Arrow bent and bulged, adapter was not damaged.  Broadhead split at the furrel and the tip bent.  It took me a while to get the broadhead out of the block!  I'll try to post pics.  OBTW,  I shot it from 15 yds. with my Mon River Possum Stik, 58# @ 28".  Don't know how to post pics, Sorry.

the 125 version is NOT QUITE the same beast as the 160, 155, El Grande, or the 190.

I bet it was fun doing it though, eh?

I'd be interested to see some results using the same test with the 190 grain Grizzly!!!

I did that a few years back with a 60lb widow @ 10YDS, every head blew up except,  zwickey black diamond and the 160 grizzly where the only survivors.
The ferule wield did open up a little but still was pointed and ready to do it's job of PENATRATING

Make sure you shoot at eye level or you will be shooting at an angle into the wall.

All the 3 blade heads exploded and most of the 2 blades did a horse shoe.

I shot about two dz of various brands.

Remember kids most broad-heads are like fishing lures......there made to catch men, not fish.
 

Not to hijack this thread, but I was just wondering what broadhead you are using on the majority of those hogs your shootin ?
Whatever it is, it appears to be very effective.

That story made me smile: My buddy, a preacher I've never caught in a windy story, did the same but accidentally drawing down on a ground hog what ducked...said it shaved hair off top of groundhog's head, scalp still on Grizz and it bedded into a block wall...

But..it was an "old" wall he didn't know was there covered with vines ...so maybe time/erosion softened those particular blocks. Said the head was fine...filed and used again... :0

Drillin block over the years, seems they vary in density/hardness a whole lot!

The siverflames hold up real well under the cement block test.

25yd shot, broadside, right through the armor/shield, 55lb Habu recurve, carbon arrow smaller than the 11/32 broadhead, GRIZZLY 160gr. with 42gr. long insert, total weight 550gr.

 

Cement block? Why? Please send me the rest of your remaining Griz broadheads. I think you might be abusing them a bit.  

I agree Curtiss.  I was gonna hold back,  but... I just don't understand the need for shooting a cement block.  I haven't seen anything in the wild approach cement block.

Actually I've never shot one at concrete. I'm thinking it might be fun too but I'm going to shoot some cheap MA-3's.

Now..some additional experimentation is in order.  Does it do the same with a light arrow and a heavy arrow ?   A wood front taper or a metal front taper (on the arrow shaft)?  How bout a half filled taper (short taper) vs a full length taper ?

a year or so back, someone on this site posted that bh's do a very fine job on brand new ford f150 tailgates!    

As memory serves me, it was a shot what glanced off the target and pierced through the tailgate to the fletching!

I remember that as my f150 was relatively new and I got syphncter spasms reading about it

My spasms were located differently though, when my wife crashed our car's tailgate yesterday morning! I just came back from the car graveyard were I had to get a "new" one ...    :mad:      
But, after my spasms had ebbed down yesterday, my first thought then was: I'll shoot what is left of you bloody thing - just for the fun of it ...
