It only hurts once...!! LMAO!!! Then years of enjoyment!!!!!
I bought mine a couple years ago, after wanting one for over 40 years... It still kills me that I ALMOST bought one in the early 80's, but $250 was ALOT of money!!! Lol
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

No, what really hurts I did not buy a 1970 TD when I first saw them. A mere $150.

LOL!!!! Like I said, it only hurts once! My T/D will be the last "new" bow, I'll ever buy!!! I waited 40 years to get it, I need at least another 20 years to get it broken in!!!

Cavscourt:  An A riser with No.3 limbs makes a 60-inch bow, not the 56-inch bow you indicated a preference for initially.  I assume someone may have PMed you and helped you make the selection.

Should let draw length determine your bow length.  With my 28-inch draw, I shoot a 56-inch TD for turkey hunting, but I don't shoot that bow a lot.  A 60-incher feels a lot better to me at that draw length.

Orion: yeah I went with a 60" rather than the shorter. 60" feels a lot better to shoot to me.

Oh man, what a bow! I thought I'd be buried with my Hill ASL, but this is a catagory all unto itself. Like I said before, I got the A riser with the #3 limbs putting it at a 60" 52# bow. Since I was already spending more money than my wife would like, I added insult to injury and got a Great Northern side mount quiver with the brown leather hood. A perfect combo in my opinion. I was running number through the calculator and came up very surprised that my 27" BOP 50-55 douglas fir arrows were within 1 digit spread. I thought it to good to be true, but wow, talk about luck!! They fly so nice carrying 160 grains up front that in homage to my Hill love I'll still use my Hill broadheads! Lol. There's been a slight adjustment with shooting high 3"-4", but coming off 2 years of ASL's it was expected and I feel that by the end of the long weekend my system will adjust fine and they'll come down consistently. As for the bow itself, there's not much to be said that this crowd doesn't already know. The grip probably sells me the most. I usually dislike recurves (and I've owned a few) because of the larger palm swell. However, if theres a better recurve grip for a solid and consistant feel, I'm sure Id never find it. Its narrow enough and still leaves room for no torque. All in all, very happy. I never imagined id drop so much on a bow, but theres no buyers remorse from me! In total love!

My problem is that I bought an extra set of limbs just so that I could change the setup a bit. Then I started thinking that it's a shame to have those limbs just laying around and maybe I could get a different type of riser to hold them.
Before I knew it they're breeding.    :knothead:

Yup, They'll do that!!!!! LMAO!!!

Cavscout9753, post a picture of your new bow. This thread needs to get back to the heavily laden pic thread it once was.

After 76 pages I can no longer resist the urge to finally get the bow I wanted so bad as a kid. And that was a loooooooooooooooog time ago.

So...which way should I go for a 60" bow? A riser with #3 limbs or B riser with #1's. I think I got the combo's right. Which would be smoother to draw?

Thanks Steve. You always wonder how much of the talk is just nostalgia or hype or whatever. But it really does possess every great quality in a bow. As an added bonus the compass even works correctly hahah. I had low expectations for it, lol.

One of the smartest things Bear Archery ever did was to reintroduce the Bear TD.

I have owned and/or shot most every custom take down available over the last 35 years.  For some reason I put off buying a Bear T/D as it seemed to be a lot of money for a "factory" bow.  I finally bit the bullet in 2011 when they reintroduced them and bought a "B" riser with 50 pound #1 limbs.

Fast forward to 2017 and I have nine of them in various configurations hanging on the wall. They can be addictive.

Does anyone of you guys already realized that the Custom Kodiak Take down has been disappeared from Bear Archerys homepage? I contacted them few days ago, but didn' t get any response until today. Hope this is just a mistake and it will still be a part of the product line!
