Bitten by the "Bear Bug" Ron...??      :bigsmyl:
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

Hey woodchucker....I have a A and B mag riser with 3 sets of limbs, #1,#2 and #3 all at mid 40 poundage. Should have bought one years ago. They are to nice not to have one or two.

I picked up two B mag risers ordered a set of #1 limbs 45lbs for one and have fallen in love with the set up. I'm waiting on some parts I ordered from monte to arrive so I can get the other riser going

Looking good Chris. Just be careful, I told you before that those Bears are very addictive.

That almost looks like Noble Sinclair camo dip riser there.  I got a b mag that I refinished and love.

That's the truth Randy. I'm falling fast for them  :)

My new to me riser came in the mail today. I put my #1 newer limbs @ 35# on the "B" riser on it and took it out for a spin. I draw 29+", this is smooth right back to anchor and it's remarkable how quick it is. I may take it to a 3/D tomorrow just for fun.

Hey guys, does anyone use FF type strings on older Bear limb [with padded loops] ??? Just made a string using 452, 5 strands with 3 of B-50 in each bundle.......am I taking a chance on blowing up my limb tips??? Seems to shoot really nice.

Best part? I bought it, riser and limbs for.....(...........drums please..)

225$!

So I walk to this pro shop that's on my way home from work, and they have a consignment section. Among the crap, I see this old, beat up Bear. The price tag?250$!! After a small bargain, I drop it to 225 and the next stop is Home Depot for sandblock, Minwax Lacquer for the riser and polyourethane for the limbs. That was last week, and pics got taken 2 days ago.. What a transformation, I wish I had taken before pics.

It is 33#@28", way lighter than what I shoot but I wanted a dedicated rig to work on form and have some backyard fun.
These are my first 3 shots after I put on a Mountain Muffler string from Steve and shot a 430 gn arrow for around13gpp. Distance is 22yards.

And to answer to Ron's question: Yes , this is a FF string, the only strings I use. When I used to collect Brownings, I used to shoot FF strings and never had an issue.
couple more pics:

in short order I love the bow, and I am glad I finally tried a Bear after almost 10 years of shooting trad!

Ron:  I've been running 12 strand D-97 padded to 16 in the loops on my older Bear TDs for about a half-dozen years now with no ill effects. I really like the way they shoot and feel with the low stretch strings.  Removes the limb vibration, gives them a little more zip, and plenty quiet to boot.

Got yourself a mighty fine looking riser/bow there, Christos.

El Greco, are you sure that was made by Bear?It doesn't look like any wood I've seen in a Bear TD,no coin either. It looks like a custom made riser.I like it a lot.

el greco

I got no clue. Although in the last 10 yeras I must have bought, sold and traded hundreds of bows, I have never owned a Bear. All I know is that from all the pictures I have seen out there I like mine the most. And I am glad that it came to me in a face of my life that I have settled down with my equipment and this baby is here to stay. I bought a pair of heavier limbs from Ric O Say here, but after shooting them, I decided to stick with the light ones that came with the bow, so those will go to the butchers block, but the rest of the rig is Staying. Never owned such a light poundage bow and I will say it is a blast

Anyone got a clue what the woods used might be?

I'd rather have that than most Bears I've seen and In like the Bears. There have been a couple guys make custom risers but I can't remember names. My guess would be East Indian Rosewood and Gabon Ebony. It's nice!
