An image came to mind the other day from an old outdoor magazine in my youth, it was advertizing an broadhead that was serpintine in shape, the ad showed an apple shot thru with the broadhead leaving a figure 8 right thru. It would have been an impressive blood hole if apples bled, help me out if you recall what ever happened to that broadhead.

Weekend Warrior

Sounds like a Browning Serpintine Broadhead.
They are wicked looking..Don't know for sure but
I heard they wouldn't fly very well?

the Ferret

Probably a bear to sharpen too.

I played with some in the late 70's or early 80's and they whistled. Never sharpened any but, they looked like a nightmare to sharpen.  Ben
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

I do remember them as a Kid....

I have one that my friend gave me. It is wicked looking. I have a hard time sharpening a straight blade. This would be impossible for me to sharpen.       Pat

I remember the ad but can't remember the name of them.  My first thought was how to sharpen them.

Hawkeye

Always thought they'd be GREAT for hunting apples...   Daryl   ;^)

I got a bunch of 40's and 50's bowhunter and archery world magazines. If I run into that add I will let you know and make a copy for you.

Browning Serpintine Broadhead, is the one you are talking about, i have one i got a couple years ago from a fellow Tradganger

I bought an old back quiver on the auction site a few years ago, and it had 5 of them in the pocket. I have since traded or given them away, but I did put one on a cedar arrow and shoot it a few times. It flew o.k. but penetration was awful in a foam target. Unfortunately I didn't have any apples handy.
