How is the hand shock and the quietness of the black widow long bows? I have been thinking about test driving one. 62" 64lbs @ 28. I really like their takedown system. Thanks for the information

I have a PLX with the new TD system.  It is 62" and 64#@28".  I notice no handshock, and it is very quiet with just a quiet "thump" at the shot.

I was never a BW longbow fan, but this bow impresses me.

Hey Phil, what kind of wood did you get? Do you have a picture?

What Phil said.

I have a thread called "TWINS" slayer1.  Look it up for pics of my BW 62" TD Osage and Tulipwood bows.  Skinner.

Has anyone noticed a difference in the way the original PLs shot as compared to the newer ones?  I have heard that they are better now...?
thanks.

I just aquired a PLX (osage) 62" 61# @ 28".
After shooting widow recurves for the last 18 years, I decided I'd try a longbow.
With this being my 1st longbow, I DID NOTICE some handshock (rather a bump to the elbow). I have fired a few longbows(not Widows)in the past that really hurt my elbow and this one is no where close to that but it's not near as smooth as their recurve. I will say that after shooting it for a couple of weeks, I've become used to the "elbow bump" so it doesn't bother me now.
This bow doesn't seem to be near as easy to tune as a recurve either. I'm having trouble getting the feather clearance I want. Gotta keep working on it 'cause I plan on killing a couple of javies with it next month.
I definitely have a new respect for longbow shooters!!

I shot them at Cloverdale and Compton....I liked them. If it were not for the fact that I have a newer PSA recurve, I would have bought a PL. The Tulip wood is beautiful, I think I liked the Osage one better. They impressed me.

I have a PL111 with the new locket-socket TD system and I love it. As for hand shock it has very little if you hold it like you are shooting a LB not lose like you do with a recurve.

The tulipwood has really caught my eye. I really like the looks of the PL's. Thanks for all the input guys

I shot Rick Johnson's Black Widow longbow it is 53 @ 28 and has no hand shock...of course I only draw it about 25 inches and for me it is smooth as silk.  It has surprisingly very small string nocks.
