Does anyone live in or around Rifle? If so are their any archery clubs there especially trad clubs? i am thinking of moving there and would like to know this before i go up there

Elksong

I live 9 miles east of rifle.  Valley Traditional archery is the ONLY trad. shop for miles.  The only club around is the "Rifle sportsmans club"  they had a bag target range and are primarily hi-tech archers.  There are quite a few trad. guy's around.  Maybe I should start a club?

VTA will get you anything you need if they don't have it in stock. You may want to check out the CTAS, Colorado Tradional Archers Society if interested in clubs. There is the High Country Shoot that is happening on June 22,23 and 24 up on the Flat tops just north of there a ways. They also sponsor a youth hunt every year for kids under 17. There is the yearly rabbit hunt in the Rangley area usually in late January or early February, and then the Feb banquet. Elksong, if you are going to get started in a trad local trad club keep me posted, even though you are about 100 miles away I would probably be interested.

I just looking into the CTAS and the shoot they are going to have in June thanks to coaltroll. I printed out the Sticks and Strings newsletter they have. Sounds like a great club. I am going to do everything I can to become a member and make it to that shoot. I know my 10 year old son would have a blast.

coaltroll

That would be great, they have a special shoot for the kids. A dino range. The kids I know have a blast with it. If you make might see you there.

Make sure you check out the JQS trail NW of town. It leads to some very good hunting and some beautiful country. Hunted up there for about nine years, too bad it's so far away from Mn. Tims Tools in Rifle will be able to help you out.

Tim's tools is no longer in Rifle, Also the Tim's tools in Silt is no longer ran by the same people. Not sure if they would be as much help as the old owners used to be. Your best bet would be to contact Dick or Nancy at VTA. Real friendly people that would steer you right.

Tater,

I work at Archery in the Wild on Thursday nights right now, otherwise that would be fun.
