I was just wondering if any one here has ever made a bow using aspen.  I know its part of the poplar family and grows pretty fast but i had a 2" x 1" board that was 70 something inches long and i was bending it like crazy and it was snapping right back. Its realy light too.

I wouldn't waste your time with aspen. It's a softwood and not good for bowbuilding. In order to get any kind of draw weight from it you'd have to make it so wide as to be impractical. Save yourself the trouble and buy yourself a hickory board. It's a resilient wood that is great for a first time bow build. Cheers, Matt
