Ive got a longbowe that was given to me because of a defect in the glass or glue not sure which but the riser overlay has developed a crack about a 1.25 in. long and has also went into the limb lamination and goes for about 3/4 in., what I did was drill a series of tiny holer one on each end of the cracks and a couple in the middele. What I want to know is what can I get thats thin enough to run into the holes and will dry stronger then it was before, dont have anything to lose here so give me what youve got. Oh by the way this is one of the fastest, quietest and best shooting longbows Ive shot, hate to relugate it to a wallhanger. Dont care what it looks like after the repair as long as it will shoot..

Dean I'd sure try to shoot some super glue into the holes you made. It may just save it for you.

I've never tried it, but I wonder if smooth-on could be forced in through a serenge.

Leroy, would I use regular super glue or is their a special type, was hoping their might be a really thin epoxy that would work, was thinking super glue might be to brittle if it flexes any which it seems to be doing.

Dean I'd think as long as it isn't on the outside edge of the fade or in a flexing part of the limb it would be ok. I'd try the Kwik-It red from 3 Rivers.

Super Glue is best in my experience for cracks. Doesn't matter wich brand but use low viscosity. Use plugs at the ends of the cracks if the holes are big.

hey Dean maybe we can sand off the handle overlay grind out the crack in the glass fill with smooth on sand and put on a new handle overlay

indianalongbowshooter

Robert, Have never messed with this stuff before, dont know a thing about it and dont really have tools needed to do it right. Ive got a belt sander and drill press thats about itexcept for a 12 in. miter saw.LOL..

what most bowyers use is called C.A  I think its a super thin super glue .
