I know that you are thinking that Jeff Massie stopped making bows in 2005, but here is how I got a NEW Massie Longhorn Longbow:

Jeff Massie is the Archery Editor for my magazine "Wild Boar USA" and he is responsible for getting me into Trad archery and teaching me much of what I know about it. A while back he told me when he had decided to stop making bows he decided to build himself a PERFECT longbow that he would keep for himself to shoot tournaments with. He decked this bow out with bocoate wood and even a layer of carbon to be one of a kind to keep for himself. Jeff said that once it was done and he went to string it he realized something was wrong. He put it on the scale and realized that there must have been something misfigured because the bow ended up at 77#@28" instead of the 45# that he was going for. Jeff said that 77# was more than he wanted so he just shipped the bow to the man who bought his company along with about a dozen other bows that were unfinished. When Jeff went to work with this man to get his equipment set up he found the bow amongst the other unfinished bows. Just so happens that I was looking for a longbow in the 70-80# range and Jeff knew this. I was able to get a BRAND NEW 2005 Massie Longhorn that was made 100% by Jeff and never been owned by anyone! I shot this bow for the first time last night and fell in LOVE! My groups were the best they have ever been and it is honestly the smoothest bow I have ever shot. I feel like the guy who pays the old lady $100 for the car in her garage under the tarp unseen to find out it is a 55 Corvette!!!

Welcome to the elite group that know Jeff and love his bows. You should feel special that you have a bow that Jeff put his sweat into. Enjoy!

Jeff's Longhorn was one of the best longbows out there. I went to the Texas State Longbow Championship senior class three years running with one of Jeff's Longhorns and shot the best scores I had ever shot. Wish I still had that bow. His fit and finish was one of the best in the business. Hold on to that bow!

To me, that's like finding that mint porche speedster in the barn...

...and I shoot that weight too...

Where do you live again? Lol...

Thanks for the story.

:bigsmyl:   Tell Jeff I said hello! You are one macho man shooting that much weight in a longbow. Careful with those shoulders. Archery can be gone for good in just a few draws of the bow. Glad to know you got a great bow built by Jeff himself!     CK
