... should have worn it this time...

Now for the story... What happened was my arrow during draw slipped off my string without me noticing it thus causing me to dry-fire my bow. The arrow made some crazy sound, thus making me flinch, and I sent my fully drawn 50# recurve into the path of my fleshy unprotected arm. I wear my armguard at all times now.   :D

Doesn't hurt like it looks like it would so thats a plus... I guess...    :biglaugh:

You bloom a lovely shade of yellow. I have always envied people who can turn such colorful phases as yourself. My husband does so at the drop of a hatpin, but my bruises are sullen, introverted sorts that keep mainly to themselves, head down, low profile, incognito.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Hehe, Killie stop hitting him and he'll stop bruising. Matt that looks angry. I was adjusting my armguard at a shoot one day and one of the guys with me called me a wussy for wearing one. Two seconds later he was crying with pain. He didn't even have a sleeve to protect himself as he was wearing a t-shirt. I just smiled and said 'Wussy huh?'

A LONG time ago I owned an Oneida Eagle. I was shooting one day when a friend came by and wanted to shoot it. I offered him my armguard but he refused, The 1st shot, a "goose-egg" popped up on his arm so big that he went to the Emergency Room.We both worked 2nd shift and he didn't make it that night. All I could do was laugh cause I tried to tell him.  :knothead:    :knothead:

I always say, "The only time I need one, is when I forget to put it on!" (but the scars on my armguards belie that -   :eek:  )

I had a nock break on the string last fall that caused a very similar bruise to my arm. They wake you up for sure.

I feel naked without an armguard on when shooting, although I seldom hit it.

Yeah, the bow survived, and yeah, I guess it wasn't a total dry-fire.   :D   I immediately stopped shooting and put ice on it for an hour or so. When it happened it didn't even hurt. My forearm was just numb, but I knew what was going to happen after the shock wore off hehe.

Oh, and Mige G, you can use the pic if you wish. I always knew I would become famous one day !
