You didn't catch this fever until March?     I've been feeling kind of like that since, oh, about early last October or so!  ;)

In the end, it is not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Abraham Lincoln.

Elk fever can drive you mad.I get it every year and I am a flatlander.Atleast you live in an elk state and can go to the mountains and do some scouting or hiking.

I have to settle for a tread mill and memorys of past hunts,Keeps me motivated though.Last year in Montana on top of a mountain with Peter I. and Curt(Guru)I swore I would get in better shape and stay that way.I have been in the gym ever since and can't believe the difference,I am down 22 pounds and still going(shooting for thirty)It feels great and I can't wait to get to the mountains again.

By the way I have hunted all across Oregon and loved it all.I would like another shot at a rosie and those awsome costal mountains. Now I am going to be up all night thinking about elk hunting.Atleast its a fever and it comes and goes.

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

I can relate, Usually planning my next hunt on the way down the mountain. I live in an area that the elk winter in so I see them all winter long. Every time I see one all I think of is how I would stalk it and look at the spot for my arrow. It doesn't even matter if its a cow or bull, always looking for the spot and how to get it there. Start my scouting trips as soon as the snow goes away enough for me to get back in.

I knew I shouldn't have read this thread before going to bed.Three hours of sleep  :banghead:

But it sure was fun thinking about all off the great elk hunts I have had,And that I will be going on in the future.Half the fun is just planning the trip.

There is no known cure for elk fever. We just have to deal with the symptoms. Keep making arrows, shooting, reading hunting mags, watching videos, talking about it with support groups(like this one), planning hunts, working out....I've got it too. When spring comes around I get it bad! By August I am basically worthless at work. When the mailman comes in we talk about elk, I get gas at the station we talk about elk, at the bank there's a teller I talk with...about elk! What really helps me is getting out into the woods to do some scouting. Okay, I can't stand it. I'm going turkey hunting this weekend and look for sheds!
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Got 3 inches of snow today at the house and along with it saw 3 bulls right down the road.

yeah I tried to get to my camp for the last 2 weeks but the ....Ohhhh 7-10 feet of snow up there has been keeping me back.  In the meantime, I'll keep molesting my bow; build some arrows and watch my videos.
