I have a couple of selfbows and a couple of old Bear Bows. My selfbows have been in my non temperature controlled shop since I made them in January but are coated with Helmsman Urethane. I have left one Bear outside lying flat unstrung. Seems fine. Do you need to keep everything inside? I was reading one of these post about not getting to hot or cold or could twist.
Most of the books about Fred Bear or Howard Hill have them hunting outdoors in the Everglades or mountains for weeks. Whats the scoop?
Also, how long can you keep a recurve strung?

Thanks

You can keep a glass bow strung forever as long as it is stored properly. Shawn

As a rule of thumb, I'd say if you're comfortable, a strung (glsss) bow would be comfortable (assuming that it's stored by hanging or laying horizontally by the string or limbs).  If it's too hot or cold for you (especially too hot) I'd unstring it and again store it horizontally.  If you're really concerned about storing your bows, you can send them to me and I'll store them for you!  I'd even take them out and exercise them if you wish.  Seriously, unstring the wood bows, leave glass bows strung or unstring them if you prefer, but always store them with as little outside stress on them as possible.

Thanks guys. I was really asking more about if OK to leave in unheated/AC shop. Its about 80 degrees here now and after shooting in back yard I just leave bows outside in shop unstrung. Will humidity hurt them or should I always bring them inside the house?

Glass bows should be fine, I would not leave them in a damp enviroment constantly though. Shawn

I, leave  the bow I am shooting most braced all the time.<><
