I am looking at some tapered fir shafts for my black widow MA II, 56#@26.  I will be shooting broadheads in the 150-165 range.  I would like my finished arrows around 27-28 inches depending on how the bare shaft testing comes out.
What I am confused about is how much weight to add, if any, due to the fact that I am deviating from the 125 grain setup in most arrow charts.  Also, I think I am supposed to add some weight to my bow's actual poundage because that's what Black Widow recommends if I remember correctly.
Also what length to get to start bare shafting them.
Thanks for any and all help, Mark  :knothead:    :help:

I think a 65/70 at 27 to 28" will probably fall right in there.

I would definitely shoot heavier than above ecspecially if ya go with a 28" arrow. I would say 70-75# and due to point weight ya want to shoot ya may need to go a tad higher. Widows are cut well past center so they are pretty spine tolerant. I would try some 70-75s cut to 27.5"s. shawn

I shoot a 58" PSAII 53# @ 27  what Shawn recommends is about right.

Shawn is correct.  Those MA's are cut past center and 70/75's are probably the better choice.  My 60# PSR likes 70/75's at 28" but it is cut to center, not past, and I like my arrows a touch on the weak side.

Hey guys, I just traded for this MA II, and I think he said it was made in 1991, so that would be cut to center, not past center right?  If so would the 70/75 still be the right arrow?

I'm pretty sure they were cut past center then too.  Like Shawn said, they are pretty tolerant of spine weight.  I had a MA II that was made around that time. It was 59# at my draw.  It shot 70/75's at 28" and 65/70's at 27" with 135 Magnus I's and 160 Snuffers.  The 70/75 is probably the better starting point though.

Mark,
I shoot almost the exact same set up. My field points weight in at 175grn and my PSA pulls 59#'s. 2216's fly perfect for me cut to 27 1/2"..  A 65-70# spine is a great place for you to start.

I would not go any lighter than 70/74@28" and that would be with 125 gr points. That would be your minimum spine, you could increase that by 10-20# and still not be wrong. The one advantage to being cut past center is the ability to shoot a wide range of spines,ONCE YOU REACH THE MINIMUM SPINE NEEDED.
