I've been looking at pictures of Simmons 125 gr. Land Shark 2-blade broadheads, w/o the bleeder blades. Anybody use this BH out of lighter weight longbows, say 55-60# range? I don't see the dimensions, but this model looks pretty small compared to the other Simmons broadheads. I'm just wondering if this model is big enough big enough to be effective on whitetails out of 55-60# longbows or if it's mainly intended for compound shooters.

I've been looking at the 4 blade model. I belive they have a cutting diameter of 1 3/16" if I'm not mistaken. You are talking about the screw in model right.

Clint, I just bought some of the glue on heads from a local shop.  I havent mounted them yet but the dimentions are 2" long and 1 9/16" cut dia.  I am going to be shooting these out of a bows in that range.  They look pretty nice up close and I wanted to stay with 125 grain tips.  I would think they will do the trick.

LeRoy, Yes, I'm talking about the 2-blade screw-in with no bleeders. 1 3/16" seems wide enough. I couldn't tell from photos. They are short, but the concave blade should make for plenty of cutting edge.

The reason I'm looking at the 125 gr. is it's best weight for my 29" 2018 arrows shot out of my mild r/d 60# longbows and my radical r/d 55#er. The other Simmons screw-in heads are very heavy.

Clint they oughta work pretty good for your setup. I wanted to get a 125 grain head and arrow  setup that would allow me some extra speed just for giggles. But I'm goin with the 160 grain 4 blade Land Sharks for my heavy arrows.

LeRoy,  I've thought about "beefing up" to a 2020 Legacy & putting on one of those Simmons 190 grain screw-in broadheads to weaken the spine. I just haven't made the leap to heavyweight arrows yet.  That arrow might be flying slower but it sure would pack a punch.  Clint

I also took a 250# deer this past season with a 55# recurve and this head on a 488grain arrow at 17yds.

Skipmaster1, Now that's a porker!  From your experience, sounds like the smaller Simmons broadheads will make a plenty big enough hole.

The Razorshark out penetrated every other head we tested on the traditional side of our tests. It was better than a 2 blade stinger, eskimo, woodsman, as well as many others.
The razorshark is 1.25" wide and has 2 bleeders. The landshark 125 is 1&3/16

I worry about ome of the longer bigger heads.......I saw the tip of one bend when passing through the ribs and it reduced penetration a lot.
I will say that it is going to take a serious BH to make me switch from the razor shark

I`ve killed a lot a lot of critters with 160 grain four blade landsharks out of bows around 55 lbs. They make awful holes.RC
