Jason, I always wanted to use the air brush on arrows. Should be able to do some neat patterns.
One of my daughters friends borrowed my air brush years ago and that was the end of that.
You would have to thin the paint a lot.

Jason:
Airbrushing a crest on arrows has been done for many many years, the cheep bulk arrows that some of the large manufactures made were crested that way.

I'm not very good with an airbrush but these turned out ok.

I have used Airbrushes to replace crown dips.
Here in Miami it can get real hot and humid, and sometimes crown dips skin way too fast.  Since, I am not ready to bring lacquer fumes into the house...the airbrush is a good substitute.

Last ones I did had a Bohning Metallic Copper crown.  I know weird color..it was special request for a friend.

Guy, great looking arrows. How did you paint the rest of the shaft with the spider web/spackle paint scheme?

A friend showed me some he did himself with a airbrush. They turned out great & he uses all Waterbased paints!

cool arrows yall that is what I was hoping to see. Grey what paint did you use? I am thinking of just using my taxidermy laquer paints, the ones I use for slatwater species, they have the brighter colors and the paints are designed for airbrushes. It will save on all the thinning and whatnot.

Keep the pics coming!

Grey, one more thing-for someone who is "not very good with an airbrush" those arrows are awesome.

Thanks for the compliments, gentlemen.
JC, I'd like to say that the spider web effect is the result of long hours with a tiny paintbrush, but it's actually a Krylon craft product called   Webbing Spray  .  You should be able to get it at most craft stores.  It's available in white, black, silver, and gold.  Fun stuff to work with.  I put it on the shaft and then let it dry for a few days to get nice and hard.  Then I use 220 sandpaper to knock it down a little so the gasket lacquer has a chance of covering it smooth.
The airbrush paints are nothing fancy, just basic Creatix paints.  Those arrows look fancy but they really don't take a lot of skill.  The cap is airbrushed so the bottom end kind of fades out.  The red arrows have two colors airbrushed on, yellow first and then orange.  Both sets of arrows have the shafts stained with analine dyes. The owner of the red arrows says his little daughter calls them the sunshine arrows.  I can live with that.

Very well done Guy...you don't have to make them "fancy" to make them look good. Thanks for the tip, I'll check out the webbing spray.
