What are the pins made of?  If they aren't silver, I'd leave it plain.  With the forged finger guard & butt cap...more re-inactment/early turn of the century.  Either way very very nice...Doc

WOW Jeremy  :notworthy:  I'm trying to figure out just how much money is nessasary. To make it to the last day of the St Judes auction. I think I'm ready to throw the white flag and give up. And it has not even started yet. I did buy some mege millions lotto tickets tonight. Stand back if I win!!!!! I'm getting those cookies too!  :jumper:  I like the silver, THANKS FOR ASKING
:jumper:  I'll share one with you Vance iffen you buy the milk.

If anyone is wondering, brass is MUCH easier to inlay than silver, and it's easier to inlay the wire in hard maple than walnut burl!
That said, how's this look?

It's pretty good, but I need to tweak my tools a bit more to get it looking spectacular before doing the inlay on a handle.  I'll see what I can do by the weekend.

Doc, the pins are nickel silver, the wire is silver bezel wire with a bit of nickel mixed in to give it some strength.  I think I'd prefer more pure silver than this to make it easier to fill the space.

How much Milk fer one of Jeremy's CUTTERS  :bigsmyl:

Doc. will probably offer a free delivery fer that knife   :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:

Jeremy

I stand corrected.  I checked my order and the wire I got was the nickel silver wire, which definitely explains the added difficulty.

I'll give it a shot again tonight with the modified tools and if it looks good to me I'll start in on the knife.

This knife would go real nice with the flint lock kit I'm putting in the auction!

Looking good Jeremy. you asked the question but I think you already made up your mind. LOL. That silver really makes it "pop". I can't wait till you get this one done so you can get on to more important stuff.    ;)    :readit: . JUST KIDDING.

when you get flooded with orders from the people who don't win this one and need some more walnut, let me know.

Well, I had a little "liquid courage" when I got home and headed out to the shop:

The little white fuzzies are from the napkin I used to wipe on some acetone before taking the pic and after sanding and the finish it should look good!

Brent, everything is coming along - thanks for your patience bud!

Stay tuned... the next pic will be in the auction forum!  :D
