I am considering purchasing a longbow. I have read Pete Ward's review on this bow. He seems to think it is in the top elite for longbows. Anyone have any experience with this bow? What do you like/dislike about it? Thanks

**DONOTDELETE**

No Peregrine shooters out there????

Can't speak to the Peregrine, but I have one of Abe's Tundra Wolfs. It's one of the sweetest shooters I own!

Cool.  All I can do is reiterate my comments in this thread:

 http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=042866

The peregrine is far and away the nicest shooting bow I've ever shot, and I've had the opportunity to shoot a few other top end brands.  I currently have a Cari-bow Tundra Wolf (74 lb) which is the second best shooting bow I've ever shot.  Nonetheless, the Peregrine was just that much nicer - which is why I've got one on order.  I also have a 70 lb Leon Stewart longbow which is almost right there with the Tundra Wolf.

Also right there with the Stewart was my (now broken) Check-mate Thunderbird, but the thing about the thunderbirds is that one can be a really sweet shooter and another can be... well... meh.  You may have to try several thunderbirds to find an outstanding one.

That is certainly not the case with Abe's bows - you know if it says 'Cari-Bow' on it it is going to be a great shooting bow.  It's just that he completely out did himself with the Peregrine.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your input flatbowMB. I just missed that thread.

MYSTIKBOW

I haven't seen Pete's review of the Peregrine.
I do however own a Silver Fox and I'll say that it's the best longbow I've  shot yet. Abe makes a
quality bow no doubt about it.
I reckon so

TradAlaska

I have a Cari-bow Featherhorn Diamond Series longbow and it is a dandy.  Abe makes a darn good bow.

Cheers from Alaska

I can't say I own one ...YET... but I shot the Tundra Wolf today in Wheeling. All I can say is WOW. I've been a selfbow shooter so far in my short trad career, but I'm gonna start savin my milk money.

I shot some of the Cari-bow one piece bows today at the WV Trad Expo.  They are good, but his three piece (especially the silver fox) takedowns are phenominal IMO. My favorite one piece longbow that I shot today was a tie between Hummingbird Alpha Male and the Navajo Cherokee.  In each of the above cases I have never dealt with better people, but my overall favorite was the Takedown Silver Fox by Abe.  Definitely "top-elite" IMHO. He said his lead time is about 6 months right now....Charlie

I've gotten to shoot Pete Ward's Peregrine. All I can say is WOW!

They are beautiful shooting bows. So much so that I ordered my own within a week! I was hoping that it would have been here yesterday. Monday I guess.

The Peregrine is a very quiet, dead-in-the-hand shooting bow. And as you can see from Pete's review, right up there for speed.

I took to the Peregrine very quickly. The thumb rest really helps with your grip.

I can't wait for mine to get here!

Cheers,
Donavan

Yep spoke to Pete a while back .I can't remember if he liked the test bow so much he bought it or ordered a new one.But the reason all the in stock Peregrines are sold is because all his buds that shot his liked it so much they bought them.

Donavan Daniel

Bentpole, the test bow is still the bow that Pete has.

I think I was one of the first people to try Pete's Peregrine. But everybody else had one before I did LOL because they bought the stock bows!

The Peregrine is a really great shooting bow! I'm counting down the minutes till mine gets here!

Cheers,
Donavan

I had a 58" tundra wolf and it's the only bow I've owned which never made it outside of my house, except for a trip to the post office. I've owned solid fiberglass bows which performed better.

Foxbo, you are the first that I've heard say anything other then Cari-bows are top shelf.

What was wrong with your Tundra Wolf? The word "performace" is very general. Please take this in the spirit it is meant. I'm really curious to know.

Were you the first owner of it?

Cheers,
Donavan

I have one of Abe's peregrines...a top notch bow with flawless workmanship...it arrived when I was away and my son got to shoot it first ...then he bought one...I got the one 2nd from the left and he got the 3rd from the left...both bows perform extremely well. Heavy aroows or light arrows perform well out of both bows     :clapper:

Donavan Daniel

Manyletters, my Peregrine has the same riser woods as yours. The limb veneers on mine are quilted maple though.

Cheers,
Donavan

Yep Donavan that's basically what Pete had told me.He highly recommended this particular bow.
