Back in the winter I bought a Garmin Legend CX, at the time there was a $50.00 rebate on them, its a nice small unit. I also bought the case with the belt clip. Also up gradeable with topo maps and city streets.

I have the gpsmap 76 csx and love it....saved my butt last summer charter fishing when I lost power to the chart plotter on the boat in a bad fog storm.    The only reason I bought it, and it happened twice.

The 60 CSX is a great GPS. The expandable & removable memory cards are a huge advantage. Garmins Topo maps are pretty good. I have the 60CS and have used it extensively in NM, Co, Utah and Az and find the maps to be very usable. The color screen on the 60 has excellent resolution as well. Another good choice would be the Vista CX or Legend CX.

good luck,

I just traded in my old Garmin GPS 12 for a new Garmin Geko 201.  Half the weight, way smaller in size.  Highly recomend them!  Bought mine for $70 on Amazon.  I can't say enought good things about my Geko, especially the size and weight, which, as you know, are big deals when chasing after elk.

I'm with Mike here----the Gecko is a good unit. However, I use the regular E-Trex, and have been really pleased with it----simple to use and accurate, yet tough. It is a better unit to use on a practical level than my brothers' Vista.JMHO

Take a look at the Lowrance IFinder series. You can get a larger  memory card for these so you can store more info on it. Also the software is cheaper. Both the topo and city maps come in one package. It also comes with a 12v adapter.

Look at their website and compare.

I agree with Zane on the 60 csx, With it's external antenna you cane pick up satellites better under tree canopy. You also have more down load options.
