How do you store your wool clothing in the off season? Mothballs or cedar or what else, i just don't want them to scare off the deer come fall but i don't want moths to eat them up either.

The lazy do not roast any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

With your question, I realized I still have some 30-year old wool clothing.  I've always just hung them in a dry place.   Never had a problem with moths around here, but I would prefer cedar over mothballs just because of the horrendous stench of mothballs.  I've had good luck with cedar keeping bugs out of my fly-tying materials though. FWIW.

Otto

I store mine in a cedar chest all year long.

Ok...Being that this past year was the first time I hunted with wool. How would you get the cedar smell out without shrinking it in the wash? Just hang it up and air it out?

Put them in a airtight storage container. And then a few days before your ready to use air them out.<><

Golden Hawk, don't worry about the cedar smell. Animals don't mind it.

I store them in cedar-lined containers.   And then rub fresh cedar leaves and berries into the wool when I get to my hunting area.

Store wool in a cedar chest. A few weeks before opening day I hand wash and air dry my cloths. My stuff stays outside during the season.

I keep all my hunting clothes in rubber-maid totes in the garage. Have never had any problem with moths or critters.
