Some of the oldest I have. Wish I had taken more pics years ago... Everyone, there is no excuse not to have a bunch of pics with todays digital cameras!

20 years ago, I was still in college.

A cold but big time fun hog bowhunt. I think in Feb. 1993.

A bit of history.  Note written to my Dad by Earl Hoyt. Jr. around 1970 when Dad worked for Earl in St. Louis.

Thank you all for the time to post all these pics. It must have been a lot of work. Reminds me of why I got Back into Traditional archery

Incredible amount of history!!! I just read all 46 pages with my morning coffee. Boy I hope all this eventually gets put somewhere safe or into a museum of some sort.
Just one more step please!

I started on this thread at 4:30 this morning, had to stop to get ready for church and have just now finished at 10:17am.  Worth every minute of it.  Thanks to all who contributed.

I am glad we aren't too busy at work, because I spent a good part of the afternoon for the past few days reading every bit of this post. It is good to see all of these older pictures and read the stories behind them. Thanks to all that contributed for keeping the history alive for future generations.

Wow, what an incredible thread. I wish this could be made into a book, I'd buy a couple! Thanks guys!

I found this deer tag in an old quiver that I bought at an estate auction 15 or 20 years ago. It is kind of an interesting piece of bow hunting history.

Incredible pictures. Wish my Grandpa would have taken more photos back when he started bowhunting.

I've made a vow to not make the same mistake.

Let's keep this thread up for a while.

This thread truly bridges the gap between the old and the new.
I am in the old catagory, but have only just begun my traditional journey.
The pictures and comments of times, friendships, hunts and the love of traditional archery in general have made no only me but many others feel as thought we were "there". If only vicariously.
I look forward to future posts and pictures, and that the neophites, will add to the post as their time comes.
Bless you all for your stewardship of our history, and our future.
Thanks
Archery is a family sport, enjoy it with your family.

One of the few regrets I have in life is that I didn't start shooting traditional in the 60's.    I missed a great deal by missing that one.

For those who have posted their bowhunting and archery lives, and a relative history of the sport in this thread, Thank You!  What a great trip through the life and times of those we admire.

I for one think Terry needs to post some pics of his younger day exploits in this thread as well...what say you?

My reget is not taking more pictures of the hunts and places I have hunted in the last 53 years. Never was much of a camera bug know I reget it.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!
