Good clean broadhead fun. It's spring. What the heck
The older I get, the better I was.

Have to admit was 70 here today, we had spring yesterday, waiting for the elk horns to start dropping, cleaning the garage, where the he99 did I get that?

I bet that made a neat sound.

Is 50# enough for shovel ?

John

penetrator

didn't kill any shovels this year, seen a few, just couldn't get close.saw a coal shovel, wow what a head, but no shot.did kill with those magnus stingers this year though, great head, hit a couple times with accusharpener and ready to go again.

John
I would say on your basic midwest shovel 50# would be fine, certainly enough for an alum. scoop
but out west here where your shots can be a bit furthur and possibly windy I like 60#, arrow weight is so critcal, but stay with a magnus and you will have a room full of shovels.

When did shovel season open?  Dang, they are probably all spooked now and hiding.

I really DIG those pics. Thanks for the SCOOP.You could shoot a smaller shovel but then it would be trowel and error. Sorry could not resist.

I'm not sure I'm an ethical hunter...  I nailed a couple of the big blue plastic ones when they were stuck in deep snow.  They looked like they needed to be put out of their misery -- the handles had those funny bends in them.        "[dntthnk]"

Sounds like you did the ethical thing there, Woody. Mother nature can be pretty cruel on shovels like them...

Two Arrows

I was very impressed with the sharpness of the Stingers. I shot my practice head into one of the newer foam type blocks probably 20 to 30 times and it still shaved my arm.

I am wondering, how those of you who have taken game with them, how are the blood trails you have had (using a four blade head)? I have heard great results about penetration, but mixed results about blood trails.

Thanks - Doug

stingers are awesome heads! I prefer the 2 blade as they seem a little better built.

there are some very good trad tests there, including real deer scapulas.

I'm gonna call PETS...People for the Ethical Treatment of Shovels....

On the other hand I might have to give the stingers a try next time I go shovel hunting.  Nothing like being able to shoot multiple shovels with the same broadhead.

Construction sites are a good place to hunt shovels... they like to hang out around the cement mixers! LOL

You can also find them on I-75 in Tennessee. Most of the time there are several guys propped up on them. WHen scouting for them, look for the orange barrels.

Impressive photos, but am I the only one unhappy with the sharpness of the Stinger points?  I've used the accusharp-type tools on these and, though they work great on the long part of the blade they don't get it done on the diamond tip.  What do people like best for a method on the tip?

Hunting should be hard.

please post your results

I'm glad to see your results.  I just bought some 125 grain stingers but haven't had the opportunity to try them yet. Sure looks to me like they'll get the job done.

Well, you have proven that Magnus Stingers are totally inadequate for trophy Caribou. Obviously you can't take a double shovel with one.

this is getting about as ridiculous as the dead cow thread on another site. keep it up - I love it.
