Was talking with the taxidemist yesterday at  a sportsman show/ indoor 3D shoot in a cattle/horse show arena.
the taxidermist said he was pretty sure that the deer was shot with a longbow( Up here that could mean a modern recurve and sights, longbow or a selfbow, they are all lumped into the "longbow" class); the buck was 5 1/2 years old and was shot off a bean field just south of Ottawa about 35 min from me..
Man, what would you do if ya saw this big puppy coming out of the bush in Nov.????                :scared:   We are getting some serious class bucks up here now.
the hunter had been trying to kill it for 3 years, finally got lucky. Apparently is was a 16 yard shot off the ground.
Enjoy.

the guy that I talked to is a great taxidermist; he had a beautiful head mount of a bear that looked like a "real"bear looking back at you, no fake looking snarling, teeth knashing bear was this fella.
I forgot to take a pic of the bear, but here is a coyote pedestal mount that he had there, very real looking.

swampbuck

think it'll just miss BC as an 8pt not sure about nontyp score.Nice buck no matter how ya look at it.
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

You'd almost have to quit hunting after you shot something like that!

That's a monster. Congrats to the hunter.  I've always been intrigued by hunting deer in October ever since I saw photos of some of the deer in "one Mans Whitetail"  I think the photographers name was Fred law or something. What a beauty.
