I am working on my second boardbow.I was going to trim my handle and stuck my limb into a bandsaw.I cut the limbs down some in width to try and salvage it.Can I add backing to gain more strength? If so,what kind?...Joe

I would think hickory backing may add weight.I am sure some of the pros will be on shortly to tell you.I am working on my first board bow so take my answer with a grain of salt.Good Luck.

I've already cut down the width to get rid of the cut.Where do I get hickory backing?

Dingus

Joe: You can also shorten the length to get more strength.  How deep was the cut?  Where in the limb?  What is the width now?

Bowjo

I will try to get some pics.It may be a couple of days.I'm working on my first bow right now.going to try making a string tonight....thanks

I started working on this bow again.I shortened it quite a bit.Started to tiller and decided to back it before I went to far.Backing it with burlap, hope it works.I will try to get back here with the results soon..........Joe
