I found a Ben Pearson colt 45# @28" can get a real good deal on it are they any good.

$50 to $100 on the auction sites depending on condition and they show up almost daily.

The "newer" Colt with the larger riser is a nice shooting bow..I think the riser wood is Ola Wood and the ones I've seen and owned looked good.

Kind of base model bow...no overlays or anything fancy.

Yes they are Jim!!!!! More people like to try and pick up the old Bear recurves,But if you ask Joe Skipp he will tell you that he thinks the Ben Pearsons are better bows. (In his opinion) Like Mike said $50 to $100 depending on condition (NO MORE!!!!!)

The second bow I ever got was a Colt 707. Beautiful wood, 34#. I just had it refinished, the sweet li'l thing. I have had it for thiry-three years. I have since gotten a 45# Colt and a 50# Stallion. Great bows.

I have a 45# Colt, as well as a Mach 1, and an "Ol' Ben" LongBow!! I have shot Many, Many Arrows through them all over the Years, and "Knock Wood" They have ALL Performed like Champs!!

The one in Killdeer's picture is the model I'm talking about.  I collected those for awhile and the ones under 40# had white glass and the ones 40# and over had dark glass.  All of them had nice riser wood.

Some of the older colts had small, slim riser.

yep, good bows, and sleepers at the present time. I don't think it will be long before the prices start climbing. Grab it!

I bought a 47#'r and it's my bowfishing bow.
I like it!

Very smooth at the draw and easy to shoot. I have 6 of these Colt's and I use them alot for people just starting out in traditional archery.Try and stay under 100.00 or less if you are buying one. The most I have paid is 85.00 and it is in mint shape. Do check it out good at the limb tips and if it may have a twisted lower limb from stringing. Shane

I ended up giving the guy $10 for it. #45 @28 it had spent the last 20 or so years lay in a cow barn. It had a small crack in the glass near the limb tip. I put some epoxy in it. I shot it and it shoots good kind of heavy compared to my hills. I bought it for a beater bow i figure i can't hurt it I'll shoot it till it goes to heck. But for ten bucks you can't go wrong.

I have a left handed 50 lb. Colt and I love to shoot it. You got a good deal but keep on checking that tip for further seperation.

I have one that looks like Killdeers (with white glass), but the draw weight is 41# @ 28".  I guess if the bow is right around the 40# mark, the glass can be white or dark

Pearsons are great bows. I have a Pearson Hunter at 50#s, it is a sweet shooter and shoots within a few fps. of most bows made today. It is my bowfishing bow and I am liking it a lot! Shawn

my uncle, who now hunts with a compound, gave me his old recurve, it is a ben pearson huter, 55 @28, it is rh and I shoot left, but I still keep it because it was a special gift from the man who taught me how to hunt

According to "archery archives" the 707 and 7070 look to be about the same bow.  The "archives" says the 7070 was sold up to 45# and the 707 up to 55#'s.  The 7070 brace height is 7-1/2" to 8-1/4 and the 707's is 7-1/2" to 8.  

You could get "select hardwoods" with the 7070.  

They both look to be the same bow (or very close).  The 707 was in the 1965 catalog and the 7070 in the 1973.

The 7070 claims a 6-1/2" sight window, but I measured my 707's and it is also 6-1/2".

I've always loved the Ben Pearsons. I still have one of my first, a 60# javelina 708     :(     with a crack along the rest. Wish I could fix it, Ive had it almost 30 years and cant throw it away.
