I have made my first purchase of a trad bow-an AMF Red Wing Hunter, #46 @ 27".

being completely new to archery, I would really like to heat about others experiences with their Red Wing Hunters.

It may sound like a simple request, but I get so much info from this site.

Thanks alot.

I have one that is 45#@28 but is about 51# @ my draw. Love shooting it so much, I used it all this past deer season instead of my usual bow. It's light weight to carry around, shoots nice once you get it tuned. Have fun!!!

I have an old one made back in that early 70's, 50#@28".  Bought it used in the early 80's and it and it just keeps on keeping on.  I use it for bowfishing which is pretty tough on a bow.  Very pretty and well made bow, but not terribly smooth or quick...

I just bought one for my daughter 40# @28" i haven't shot it yet no string, that is being taken care of. I'm looking for one for myself around 45# @28". I have looked at quite a few and they look like nice bows well made. I went and saw a guy that had about a dozen wing bows he had nowhere to shoot them this time of year.

I picked mine up, 50# @28" ; 3 years ago.
For the looks, feel, and prestige of the name, I stole it ($35) and I absolutely love it!
Didn't know much  about Trad then. Have talked with the Lee's from time to time and they are wonderful folks. Even if your bow is 40 years old, they will help set you straight with good advice. Welcome to the club! Enjoy.

Excellent bows. You're off to a good start.

Haven't shot a Red Wing hunter in ages.  However, I owned a few in the 70s.  Among the best recurves at the time.  Really liked them.  Also like the Slim Line Prow and Thunderbird.  Just about all of the Wing bows are pretty good IMO.  Have fun.
