Just got my bow back from Wes.  I have been shooting and selling his bows since 1992. This one just needed a little love so Wes refinished it. Mark

Wow, looks new!  My Mentor has a very similar riser tone to yours...what year is that one?  Mine he made me in '99.

I've never even seen one of his bows in person but I have drooled over them in ads for years.

He makes a beautiful bow.

Wes is a top notch guy to deal with. And one of the best bowyers ever IMHO.

This bow was made in 94. When Rex and I opened Willow Creek Archery in 93. I had my first Wallace for 2 years then. We sold alot of Wes's bows over the next years until he sold the shop and I retired from the Navy and moved away. His first long bow was a Bolivian rosewood riser and red elm limbs. This is the recurve to match. I still have the red elm Limbs(unstained) The limbs in the pic are red elm stained. Never once did we ever have any problems with a bow. I talked with Wes the other day, one of the true "Good Guy's" in archery.....Mark

Beautiful! I have one of his Royal longbows and love shooting it. He definitely is a skill craftsman. One of the great Oregon bowyers. I wonder if he still uses the limb bolt insert that goes all the way through the bow still?

Wasn't he taught by Jim Brackenbury? Or one of the other greats???

He worked with Jim Brackenbury. After Mr. Brackenbury passed, Wes opened his shop.  So if you owen an old Brack, Wes might have built it.

Norm at Blacktail Bows worked with Jim too. I have a friend, Gary, that knew Jim well. Jim gave him one of his TDs. I was up elk hunting with Gary and he let me shoot this bow. That is when I put my compound down and never picked it up again. I think it is great these guys are carrying on the craft.

Mark was the person that introduced me to recurves and it was a Wes Wallce bow. I was hooked from that point on and still have and shoot that Wallace bow (from '93). Great bow, great guy! I just ordered a T/D longbow (Royal) from him about a month ago. Thanks for sharing Mark.

Wes is one of the good guys !! He fixed me up with a set up limbs for my mentor (my limbs were WAAY outside of the warranty period)and got them back to me in 4 weeks(just in time for my bear hunt),AND he wouldn't accept any money for the new limbs??!!! One heck of a nice fella to deal with. Bill

I guess that would explain (to me anyway)why the older Bracks, Blacktails, and Wallace recurves seem to have a simular look to them. They all were from the same school.
Now did Mr. Brackenbury teach Wes and Norm the art of bowyering or were they already skilled when they started working for him???
It would be real interesting to find out who taught who and so forth down the line to watch the progress of the artwork of bowyering.

When I ordered a Mentor that was too much bow for me, Wes had me send the limbs back and he made me a new, lighter set of limbs at no cost and with no hassle.

Can't get better than that.  Wes Wallace is one of the really good guys.  And, he makes one helluva bow.

**DONOTDELETE**

I live just a couple miles from Wes's shop. I just recently made the change to Trad, and i went and visited with Wes just a couople weeks ago. He is a great guy and has some beautiful bows.  He spent over an hour with me telling me some of his history and let me shoot one of his "Mentors"   The "Mentor" WAS Jim Brackenbury guys.....that bow was named after Wes's mentor...

I can't wait to get back over there now that i've had a chance to do some shooting, and get a feel for some different styles of bows. I'm affraid at the time i was there i really didn't fully appreciate the quality of his stuff....

It could be an expensive vist too...... I guess he has a 3D course set up during the summer out there. i can't wait to see this guy shoot, and meet some of his friends.....WAY COOL!!!!!
